Tēnā koe, my name is River. I’m from the United States and have lived across NZ for 7 years. I would describe myself as a shy/introverted person, but I also feel grounded in social connection. I’m also a pescatarian, a nature-lover, and a yoga enthusiast. I try to approach life with curiosity, levity, and loving-kindness. I’ve worked in environmental conservation, horticulture, and retail, however I developed a rare health condition a couple years ago that I’m still learning to cope with, which includes transitioning from my previous line of work into being an a visual artist.

I’ve had my fair share flatting experiences, and in the past I’ve enjoyed having friendly relationships with my flatmates, doing such things as occasional shared meals, and movie/game nights. I believe that above all else, having open, honest, and respectful communication is key to healthy flatting.
While I’m not a partier by any means, I don’t mind if flatmates want to host small gatherings.
I always prefer cleanliness and order, but I am not a stickler for keeping things perfect all the time—with my own struggles with fatigue, I would be better suited to flat with people who are more lenient on these things.
